Accidents, a flat, or a dead battery can happen even to a Porsche. A well-stocked car tool kit can provide the necessary equipment to get your car back on the road ASAP. The contents of any kit vary widely depending on your driving conditions, environmental factors, and other factors. As your Porsche dealer, we’d like to give you tips on some items to keep in your tool kit if something unexpected happens.

Advice From Your Porsche Dealer: 5 Items You Should Keep in Your Car Tool Kit

Tire Sealant

A can of tire sealant is invaluable if you have a flat tire. It’s a quick alternative to jacking up your Porsche and changing the tire. All you need to do is screw the nozzle of the sealant can onto the valve stem and press the button on the can. Your tire will rapidly reinflate with the liquid, which reinflates the tire. Once the tire has inflated, you should drive for several miles to allow the liquid to seal the puncture permanently.

Torque Wrench Set

Certain nuts on your car, like wheel nuts, must be tightened to a specific torque. The exact torque is listed in your car’s manual. When you use a torque wrench, you can set the wrench to provide the correct torque and ensure a nut is tight enough. Over-tightening or under-tightening a nut can lead lead to damage.

Duct Tape

This tape is invaluable as part of a tool kit, as it can be used to make numerous temporary repairs. Duct tape is waterproof, and its strong adhesive allows you to fix most problems. If your side mirror, for example, has been damaged in an accident, duct tape can reattach it until you can reach us. You could also use it to fix a leaking radiator hose. We advise adding at least one roll of this tape to your tool kit.

Tire Pressure Gauge

Your Porsche is known for its stable road handling and excellent curving ability. To work effectively, these features require good tires, and the tires must be at the correct pressure. Environmental factors and time can alter your tire pressure. Each month a tire automatically loses 1 – 2 PSI due to pressure equalization. A good tire gauge ensures your tires are always at the correct pressure.

Owner’s Manual

Some drivers put their car’s manual in a drawer at home and forget about it. This manual provides a wealth of information, including the correct oil for your Porsche, tire pressure, and your car’s service schedule. If you keep your manual in your car as part of your tool kit, you can find an answer for most problems you could experience.
