Your car radiator has a hugely important job, so when the radiator malfunctions, your engine and all the other systems in your car become compromised. When you need a radiator repair, head straight to your Porsche center service department, as you need to address the issue sooner rather than later.

6 Signs You Need a Radiator Repair

1. You See Bright Fluid Near Your Car

Your car has lots of easily identifiable fluids in it. Coolant is one of the most unique of all, as it’s typically brightly colored and sweet-smelling. If you see a pool of liquid like this new your vehicle, then check your coolant level. If it’s not too low, then drive right to the dealer to get the leak repaired. If the level is too low, then it’s dangerous to drive, and you should call a tow truck.

2. Your Coolant Level Is Low

You need to check your coolant level regularly to make sure you always have a sufficient amount of this fluid in your vehicle. When you notice the level is low, it’s time to go to the dealer for a top-up. If your level is unusually low, then you may have a coolant leak that needs to be found and repaired.

3. Your Coolant Is Dirty

Coolant can become contaminated, leading to your coolant changing color. Usually, dirty coolant is black or brown. This contaminated coolant can eventually turn into sludge and cause blockages in your radiator, which then leads to performance issues with your vehicle. Make sure to check the quality of your coolant often and get it replaced if it looks dirty or otherwise unusual.

4. You Have a Rising Temperature Gauge

If your cooling system isn’t keeping your engine temperature regulated, then your temperature gauge will start to rise. If you notice the gauge is steadily rising, or if it indicates your car is running hotter every time you drive it, then you should head to the dealer to have your cooling system checked.

5. Your Engine Overheats

If your temperature gauge indicates your car is starting to run hotter, and you don’t have the problem fixed soon enough, then your car may eventually overheat. You might see white smoke coming from under the hood while you’re driving. If you see this, pull over at once and shut off the engine so your car can cool down.

6. You See Discoloured Spots under the Hood

Sometimes a coolant leak causes discoloration under the hood. One of the hoses in the system may be spraying coolant directly onto hot parts of your engine. Because of the heat, the coolant evaporates quickly, leaving discoloration behind. These discolored spots can then rust over time.
